Testimonials

GAN gave me a scholarship to attend the Smith Summer Science and Engineering Program (SSEP) and I’ve returned from Massachusetts. Thank you. It was really fun over there. I made friends with many people; especially with one girl, she’s from Uganda. I think that’s cool. So once again, thank you for providing me with the scholarship and the gift card for SSEP.

GAN gave me a scholarship to attend the Game Programming Workshop sponsored by DigiPen Institute of Technology and St. Philip’s Academy in Newark, New Jersey. I really learned a lot and got exposure to a whole new area. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

“I learned a multitude of things at this program- on the coding side I learned how big data is used, what big data is, how anaconda works, what the future of ai/technology on a whole means for humans, and more about how python works.”

“The people I met at Smith would be my favorite takeaway I would say. I was able to meet young women from across the globe, all with their own stories and experiences. I grew so much in myself too, gained independence and confidence in my own abilities.”

“I stopped and thought about my mother trying to get the money for me to go to the science camp at Wesleyan College. She made a lot of phone calls and tried come up with half of the money, [but] Girls Action Network came all the way through. GAN all the way!”

“I realized how fortunate I am and how much I take for granted. I went home with a feeling of accomplishment and gratitude [to] all those who gave. Thank you to the Episcopalian Church and to GAN for giving me the opportunity to serve others. I enjoyed the GAN Giving Back Service Day project and that experience has made me eager to volunteer again.”

The Tracker reflects the annual points accrued (based on your Quarter) for all four focus areas, as well as the aggregate total. It is an easy way to see where you are excelling and where you might need more work. Points reset at the beginning of each new GAN Quarter.

Your GAN Quarter is the Quarter of the year in which you joined, expressed as QTR1, QTR2, QTR3, and QTR4. For example, if you joined GAN in January through March, your GAN Quarter would be QTR1. If you joined GAN in April through June, your quarter would be QTR2, and so on. Your GAN Quarter also controls your annual points accrual period. For example, if you’re a QTR2 member, you accrue annual points from April of the current year to April of the next year. This allows all GAN members accrue points on an annual basis in a fair manner.

You can see your designated GAN Quarter under “Edit GAN Profile” in the “My Account” section of the website.
Go to your Learning Dashboard either from “My Account” or the “GAN Girl Hub”, then click on “Show More” under left-hand pane, then click on “External Activities”. There you can add many different types of activities that all have point values.
The Team Message Board is for those members who are part of an organizational team such as a School or Business. Regular GAN Members will not see messages there. Regular members receive SMS and Email notifications of events, courses, and other news.
