The Girls Action Network® Summer STEM Enrichment Program (GAN SSEP)

History: GAN established the GAN SSEP through formal partnerships with Smith College in 2004 and Mount Holyoke College in 2005 and Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia in 2010 to provide scholarships for GAN participants (“GAN Scholars”) to attend either Smith College’s one month Science and Engineering Summer program, Mount Holyoke College’s summer programs in mathematics and computers, Wesleyan’s summer math and science camp.

Goal: The goal of the GAN SSEP is to provide GAN Scholars with a unique opportunity to participate in innovative curricula in astronomy, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and physics. The experience also promotes global cultural learning and appreciation due to the number of student participants that come from all over the U.S and world to participate in the educational enrichment programs.
